Bristol Congregational Church Preservation Conference

"The First Congregational Church in Bristol would like to invite interested community members to attend a one day community public service event to creatively participate in the evaluation of the church building and grounds (located at 280 High Street). Attendees will join one of several groups to focus on various building and/or preservation specialties. Each group will help to assess existing conditions, identify needs and make recommendations for long and short term improvements to the historic 1856 First Congregational Church. The event is sponsored by the Church Facilities Committee and Leland Torrence Enterprises & The Guild. Participants may include professional tradespeople, designers, students from RWU Preservation studies, and anyone interested in preservation or in being a part of the day's activities. Continuing Education Credits may be available from AIA-RI and Certificate of Attendance from the Preservation Trades Network, The Guild of Fine Craftsmen and Artisans, and Roger Williams University. The day will begin with breakfast and sign in between 8:30 - 9:30 AM. Lunch will also be provided at no cost. The day of discovery will culminate in a group presentation of preliminary findings at 2:00, which is also open to the public. The event is expected to end at 3:00. To get more information about the Buildings and Grounds Evaluation Day or to RSVP for the event, please contact Mark Johnson from the Facilities Committee by e-mailing him at mgjoes51@hotmail.com."
